How will students know to draw an array of 6? It’s seems random.
Dear Susan,
Thank you for your comment–as it might be the most critical part of the visual process! I purposefully left off that part regarding an array of 6 because I wanted that question to come from students. Students need time to cobble their own questions and understanding. By giving everything away, we deny them the true goal of mathematics–to question, doubt, conjecture, resolve, etc!
