Least Common Multiple

Last month we published Greatest Common Factor and it is only natural to follow up with GCF’s best friend, LCM. Least Common Multiple is a great activity to both introduce and practice the concept of determining the LCM.

This activity begins by asking students to find multiples of two values on a hundreds chart and then compare them to find common multiples. From there students will determine the least common multiple. They will also use factor trees and end with a problem that requires critical thinking and application of the LCM. You can’t go wrong with the activity.
