Looking for the credit card with the best reward points? Trying to find a job that will pay you the most per hour? We can compare different credit card incentives and salaries by finding the unit rate.

Students will find ratios that compare two different types of units when they calculate the unit rates of two bugs scurrying on the ground to determine the fastest one. They will also practice solving unit rate problems by determining the mileage per hour of a car and the dollars per hour of a worker. This activity provides a great opportunity for students to become proficient with solving unit rate problems, beginning with an introduction of vocabulary and ending with a matching activity to calculate and compare unit rates.
