12x + 6y − 7x + 3y − x(x + 86)….What?! Let’s introduce students to writing and solving numeric and algebraic expressions by breaking them down into parts. Students will be able to identify and label each part of an expression as they navigate through this activity.

Students will explore vocabulary such as coefficient, term, constant and variable as they match expressions to terms and find the value of expressions when given the value of a variable.
