(Numbers and Operations > Operations with Rationals > Multiplication and Division > Fractions > Multiplying Fractions Using Models)

How do you multiply a fraction by a smaller fraction and get a product that is an even smaller fraction? For many middle school students this doesn’t even seem possible. Now students can see how it is possible by viewing the visual models represented in the document, Multiplying Fractions using Models.

Students will not only have the opportunity to view the visual models, but they will also be able to create visual models using an interactive grid on page 4. Being able to see a visual model with every problem brings clarification for students on this abstract topic.

This document provides students with the practice and visual representation that will aid them in developing a strong foundation for solving multiplication problems involving fractions.
